Now I understand why they say we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. A person may seem older than the next one, only to find out that it’s a Visa versa. We usually assume people’s ages based on the characters they play on TV, the way they dress, look, talk, and behave.

Have you ever thought that Junior Singo who plays ‘Mpho’ can be five years younger than Letoya Makhene who plays ‘Tshidi’ on the SABC 1’s popular soapie: Generations: The Legacy? Well, it is. Mpho is just a young boy who was adopted by Tshidi, he even calls her ‘mom’ whereas they’re in the same age group in real life. His stature can have anybody fooled that Junior is a teenager.

Apparently, Junior Singo was born in the year; 1989 at Chawelo, a small village in Venda. He then moved to Protea Glen in Gauteng where he spent most of his childhood. He is 32 years of age as of now in 2021.

Apparently, Letoya Makhene was born on the 7th of September 1984 in Coronationville which is a suburb of Johannesburg. As of 2021, she is 37 years old. Can you believe it? She looks 43 to 50 years.

So you see that their age gap is small whereas it’s a different story when you look at their physical appearances.

Dloz’lami: Showed us the true effect of polygamy and how Musa Mseleku might end up

This week on Dloz’lami I was struck by how much of a difference a good ancestor and bad ancestors make.

It was clear from the onset that Bab’ Ngcobo was not pleased with his wife and daughter. He refused entry and proceeded to shout at them the entire time once he entered.

He brought up an issue that had been long discussed; muthi. However, this time it was because he was in a polygamous marriage with three women who clearly hated each other and were using traditional means to spite one another.

It brings me to the main point that my mind immediately went to. Once Musa Mseleku passed on, his own Kraal will be identical to the one Ngcobo left behind. There is no unity between his wives as we speak. He has also previously mentioned that one wife would hurt another through means of music. We’ve seen the discord between them at every small interaction.

The tears Mseleku shed during his party were a sign of something deeper to me. For him to weep as though he had been harmed meant that all his wives being there was shocking, too shocking for him to accept it.

But what’s worse? None of them stood up to console him and get him to calm down. He cried longer than necessary cause none of them were humble enough to do it.

Bab’ Ngcobo was furious and maybe he had every right to be. His second wife hadn’t come to his funeral nor had she come to his grave since his passing. His daughter was in yet another case of an incomplete marriage. He was ranting the whole time, leaving in a huff without further instructions to his family. It is a glimpse of what happens to polygamous homes.

Once the patriarch is gone, there is nothing binding them together. They start to try and spite each other. It was sad to see the ancestor threatening to harm his elderly wife but perhaps his message will be heard.

Sannah Mchunu, who plays Zodwa on Gomora, recently took to her Instagram account to write a sweet message to Israel Matseke-Zulu, who plays Don on the show. Zodwa, Mchunu’s character, shot and killed Don last Thursday (18 November) after he attempted to end the lives of Ntokozo (Ntobeko Shishi) and Melusi (Zolisa Xaluva).In a recent interview with the Daily Sun, the actress stated that she was grateful and blessed to be working alongside Zulu as his character healed her. She also claims Zulu was aware of her ordeal and that she imagined her ex-husband whenever she saw him.

She told the magazine that Don reminded her of her real-life husband, who dumped her in the same way that Don dumped Zodwa on the show.

Sannah says most people are aware that Don’s character is very similar to her ex-husband’s. She says she was married, but it ended in divorce when her husband dumped me in the same way Don dumped Zodwa.

She had a lot of questions for her ex-husband, but he was gone, and she had a chance to ask them when Zulu’s character was introduced. She also expresses gratitude to the writers for allowing her to find closure and vent when she needed to. She also revealed that those who know me could tell she wasn’t just acting the part, but it was genuine tears. She also gave thanks to Israel who aided her in finally healing.

I think Sannah is a very good actress and using her real-life experience for her role was just a bonus to what she already is. The experience worked well for the show, herself, and the viewers who enjoyed watching her character. Hearing that she has finally recovered from what she has been going through should be able to unleash more from her.
