A 28-year-old woman was arrested in connectionp with the murder of Sergeant Mandlenkosi Happy Thwala, a 45-year-old police officer from Mpumalanga. She has been kept in jail.

Last week, a neighbor in Pienaar found Thwala dead in his home at Gedlembane.



Zanele Mkhonto, who is 28 years old, was arrested on Wednesday and went to court on Thursday.

The Mpumalanga Hawks, a spokesman for the specialized law enforcement unit, said that the specialized law enforcement unit is now looking into how the police officer was killed in a brutal way.

“The suspect, Zanele Mkhonto, who is 28 years old, was taken into custody and went to court on Wednesday, August 10,” said Sekgotodi.

She was put back in jail, and the case will be sent to the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court until August 12 so that she can ask for legal help and bail.

Major General Zodwa Mokoena, who is in charge of the Hawks in Mpumalanga, has asked the community to work with the police by telling them anything that might help them solve the murder.

“According to reports, police were called to a scene in Pienaar where a neighbor said she got a call from the member’s mother asking her to check on her son because she thinks he may have been killed,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

When the police got there, they found him lying still in his bed with gunshot wounds that could be seen. He was allegedly shot five times, twice in the head and three times in his upper body, with his service pistol.

Two cartridges were also found on the floor. His green Volkswagen Polo Classic with the license plate DSV 112 MP, his service gun, and his cellphone were all missing, but they were later found in the bushes. “A murder case with an additional robbery charge has been opened,” Mohlala said.

Acting in accordance with this appreciation, I have always regarded this assignment not as a career but a service,” he said.

Both Mshengu and Sibiya are well-known Ankoles — that is to say they are huge allies of President Ramaphosa — hence they both contested as part of his faction for the deputy chairperson and secretary positions respectively, and lost.

“She fell sick on 1 August. She was short of breath and we rushed her to our local clinic, but her condition worsened and she was rushed to the nearby hospital in Pietermaritzburg,” said Delisile.

“On Wednesday I visited her in the hospital and she asked me to pray for her. She also asked me to burn “impepho” (incense). She thanked everyone who had been part of her life. Now that she’s gone, I can see she was actually saying her last goodbyes. She was full of humility and she took care of me. She would deposit me money whenever I asked for it. I lost a very good child,” she added.

The family, close friends and fans of Thobeka are shattered by the great loss. Her demise came at a time when they least expected it. …

RIP ANC-Connected Businessman Dies

There is no greater irony than when someone who was alleged to have been a beneficiary of rigged personal protective equipment (PPE) at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic suddenly dies of illness.

Not that one is celebrating death of auditor Roshan Morar, who benefitted extraordinarily from different government departments for the supply of PPE in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, however, It shows a surprising amount of irony, because a number of people lost their lives due to PPE corruption.

Morar’s death was confirmed this afternoon by the company which he founded, Morar incorporated.

He died in hospital in the early hours of this morning after battling illness for some time. He was aged 56.

The company waxed lyrical about the significant contribution he made particularly in the financial sector for black people.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of our founder Mr Roshan Morar of Morar Incorporated. The directors and staff of Morar Incorporated express their deepest condolences to the Morar family during this very difficult time and would like to assure them that Roshan’s legacy will continue to live within Morar Incorporated,” the company posted on their official Facebook page.

His auditing firm, founded in the mid-1990s, was one of the leading black-owned auditing companies in the country employing quite a number of people.

According to Imbali funeral furnishers, Morar will be buried tomorrow, his body will be cremated at Cedar Ridge Crematorium.
