I must say, the year 2021 has been very hard on the entertainment industry as we saw many celebrities dying.

While others died of accidents but most celebrities this year passed on after being sick. The pandemic Covid-19 had a huge impact too as many celebrities died after they have contracted it. The legendary filmmaker, producer and actor, Shona Ferguson was amongst those who died of this pandemic.

On Wednesday, here in Mzansi Celebrity News © we reported that a reality TV star, Naledi Willers passed on after battling cancer for the past few years. She, unfortunately, lost the battle this month as cancer took her life.

While people are still licking their wounds, another sad news broke on Friday that former 7de Laan veteran actress, Themsie Times has passed away. She was popular for her role as Maria Zibula on 7de Laan which she played for the whole 13 years before she retired.

7de Laan publicity manager Kayleen Bessit confirmed the news on Friday that Times actually died on Thursday.

“It is unfortunately true. As far as I understand she passed yesterday,” the publicist said.

She said an official statement would soon follow.

The 70-years old thespian played the role of Maria for 13 years before leaving the show in 2016.

“She obviously not been a part of the show for a very long time. She’s always been an integral part of the show,” Kayleen said.

Maria played the role of being the housekeeper of Ouma and Oupa of which she always ensured to keep the flat clean and maintained the place very well.

Even though she was most popular as Maria on 7de Laan but Times also featured in big productions including the first season Yizo Yizo and made appearances in films such including Cry, the beloved country, and Beat the drum.

After she left the SABC 2 soap, Times told You magazine that she will be now devoted to church matters as she is a staunch Christian.

Tributes started to pour in on social media from colleagues and fans who are shocked and saddened by her death.
