Horror as son allegedly murders mother and hides her body parts in different areas

Tumasera has been left reeling in shock after Bokamoso Setlhabi, who is Omphemetse Dineo Setlhabi’s son, was taken away by the police on Friday evening.

Bokamoso is being questioned about his possible involvement in the brutal killing of his mother.

He appeared before Mahalapye Magistrate court this past Tuesday facing a murder charge.

When The Midweek Sun team was at Setlhabi’s home on Friday evening, the forensics team was busy at work sniffing around Setlhabi’s house.

A broken door was not hard to notice and The Midweek Sun learned that the son had all along been chasing people away, asking why they were gathered at his mother’s home.

The son allegedly locked all doors, refusing the police entry leading to the police officers breaking the door to gain access.

According to a highly-placed government source, who spoke to this publication this week, the son has confessed to killing his mother. The son is mentally unwell.

“He confessed to hitting his mother with a log on the head and chopping off her head with an axe. He has in the past complained that his mother restricted him from eating freely the free food he got from the government.

“When the police were digging out body parts from their toilet, there were food items including mayonnaise, tomato sauce, and soft drinks inside the toilet. All those are suspected to have been bought by him. He was allegedly seen stocking up not so long ago,” the source said.

Othomile Boiki Setlhabi who is brother to the deceased said they last saw his sister on the 14th of August 2022.

Speaking to The Midweek Sun in Tumasera this past weekend, Othomile shared that his sister was to start work in one of the government’s poverty eradication programmes on the 15th of August 2022 but never pitched.

A week later, the deceased’s children who reside in Gaborone called their uncle (Othomile) to inquire about the whereabouts of their mother, worried that her phones were off.

The brother said they tried calling a few people but no one knew where she was. They reported the matter to the police.

“The police tried searching for her but nothing,

that is when they suggested we should ask members of the community to help us,” he said.

The family is relieved to have finally buried her.

Carlon Titus, a 31-year-old mother of three was found murdered in Kraaifontein, Cape Town. It is believed that she was attacked by two men but no one has been arrested yet, it is completely unforgivable that men can simply attack women on the streets and take lives but not suffer any repercussions for their actions and that is something that is completely unforgivable and has to be investigated and dealt with.

The woman is survived by her family and possibly a child so you can imagine that this is definitely not a good look for the woman to have died in a tragic way, and have been killed by suspects for no apparent reason and that is not right.

Parents told Enyobeni victims suffocated to death

The 21 children who died at the Enyobeni tavern in East London in June were suffocated, the toxicology report into their deaths has reportedly found.

The news will come as a shock to the bereaved parents, who were told in July that their cause of death was likely linked to methanol found in their bloodstream.

The Daily Dispatch reported that the toxicology report has been released to the parents of the victims, ahead of a possible public release.

Provincial health spokesperson Siyanda Manana confirmed to the media that the process of informing the parents was underway.

However, the bereaved parents, who have complained on multiple occasions about the handling of the investigation into their children’s deaths, are reportedly disputing the validity of the results.

One of the family members told the Dispatch: “I got angry shortly after they started to address us. They are addressing us individually but I am not happy with their conduct.”

“We told them we want the results to be documented. They are refusing to give us something written down.”

The investigation into the tragedy has been chaotic since the very start.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, a stampede was ruled out by police because the victims did not appear to have any external injuries. In July, under pressure from the media, investigators admitted that some of the victims may have been crushed in a stampede.

Investigators permitted the owner of the tavern to remove stocks of alcohol in the days after the tragedy without collecting samples for testing.

Preliminary tests found that some victims had methanol in their blood and this was a possible cause of death. However, police could not determine whether the tavern’s alcohol was adulterated with methanol because they already let the owner remove their stocks.

Sources close to the investigation also revealed that the children might have died from carbon monoxide poisoning after a petrol generator was discovered on the property.

If the victims’ cause of death was suffocation, this does not rule out a deadly carbon monoxide leak.

The National Prosecuting Authority has confirmed that the owner of the tavern has been charged with contravention of the Liquor Act, including selling or supplying intoxicating liquor to persons under 18 years of age.
