Seven family members were shot and killed at their home while preparing for a funeral, see details below

Major General Thandiswa Kupiso, the acting provincial commissioner, expressed her shock at the killing of seven mourners at a homestead in Bityi and immediately ordered that a team of all the pertinent policing units be assigned to investigate the horrific incident.

It is stated that three unidentified armed men broke into a homestead in Tantseka Location, Sithebe Administrative Area in Bityi on 16 November 2022, at around 23:30, and started shooting.

Furthermore, it is claimed that six victims died immediately from their wounds, while the seventh victim passed away in a hospital. The incident’s circumstances are being investigated as part of the case.

The victims include family members, ranging in age from 29 to 68, who were preparing for their relative Novotile Mgxada’s (62), funeral after he was shot to death last week.

The Provincial Organized Crime Unit has taken over the ongoing investigation into a murder case that consists of seven counts.
