Julius Malema says No freedom without jobs, security, and comfort

EFF leader Julius Malema says despite the adoption of the freedom charter in 1955, South Africa is still lagging behind on many issues, with one of the main issues facing the country being joblessness and security.

Malema was addressing EFF members at a rally in Kliptown, Soweto, on Sunday.

The country is commemorating the anniversary of the adoption of the Freedom Charter. 67 years ago, more than 30 thousand people gathered in Kliptown to adopt the document.

Malema said there is no freedom without jobs, security, and comfort, adding that the party wants ‘the people’s government.’

JazziQ denied dating Thuli, “This past week I posted a picture with Thuli P and like it was going crazy you know? Videos of what appears to be a massive party before tragedy struck at the Enyobeni Tavern in Scenery Park in East London are emerging on social media.

Users have posted videos showing hundreds of youngers inside and outside the pub on Saturday night.

Forensic investigators are carefully combing the scene where at least 17 youngsters aged between 18-20 years old were found dead at the East London tavern.

While the cause of the deaths is unknown at this stage, Eastern Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana confirmed that 20 youngsters are now dead, seven of which were women and 13 men.

“The bodies are still on the scene, investigators are being very thorough because we don’t want people to say things have been bungled up,” said Kinana.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Police could not confirm rumours that youngsters were tear-gassed or pepper-sprayed, but Kinana did say no police officers were present at the tavern at the time of the incident.

No arrests have been made as yet and police are uncertain of precisely what charges to investigate.

South African actress and Reality TV star, Khanyi Mbau has reportedly exited “The Wife”. The news was made known by Entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela who revealed that she is bowing out of the show.

Latest: 17 people killed in a tavern were all underage

The Department of Community Safety in the Eastern Cape has confirmed that the 17 people killed in a tavern were all underage.

As the parents and family gathered outside the grisly scene at Enyobeni Tavern in Scenery Park this morning, to find out if their children were among the dead, it had emerged that the tavern was a popular hangout for under-age patrons.

Unathi Binqose, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety in the Eastern Cape said police had opened an inquest docket and was investigating.

He could not say if the tavern owner would be charged in relation to the incident.

He said that several mortuary vans were at the scene to collect the dead.

Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, Binqose said that there were several CCTV cameras located around the property which would help them piece together what happened.

The cause of the deaths was unknown early this morning but speculation was rife that the patrons were exposed to the poison which resulted in a stampede.

According to reports at the scene, bodies are lying strewn across tables, chairs, and on the floor; with no obvious signs of injury.

Tensions outside the tavern were high this morning as angry and desperate loved ones gathered outside to find out if their children were inside.

Today, South Africans woke up to the shocking deaths of over 22 people who died this morning in a night club. Read below.

A nightclub in East London has been the scene of the discovery of the bodies of twenty-two people. At some ungodly hour early on Sunday morning, a horrifying scene played out at the Enyobeni Tavern in Scenery Park. Panicked messages were sent out calling for the assistance of the police, the metro, and ambulances.

There are reporters present, but the photographs they have taken are not suitable for publication. At this point, no one knows what caused the deaths, but some people think that the customers were given poison or that something caused a stampede that hurt and killed a lot of people.

There are multiple bodies scattered across tables, chairs, and the floor at the club, but none of the victims appear to have been harmed. Desperate parents and family members can be seen outside the building pleading with security personnel to let them inside while shouting the names of their missing loved ones. None of them are responding. A significant number of police cars and ambulances have just arrived at the location of the incident. At this point, dispatch has been made aware of at least 22 people who have died.
